Vacancy - Job Club Officer

Date: 12-01-16
Situation Vacant!

The BCUIM seeks a Development Officer to work in partnership with local churches setting up Work Clubs for unemployed people on their premises.

The post holder will be responsible for all preparatory work, including publicity, obtaining funding and training volunteers.  Churches will take responsibility once each club is well established, but the Officer will continue to monitor effectiveness and offer support and advice.

The post calls for experience of interviewing people and drawing the best out of them, building confidence, and enabling them to value and use their own experience.   The post holder will be well organised, with strong communications skills, and able to relate to a wide range of people.   This post carries a Genuine Occupational Requirement and therefore has an exemption under the Employment Equality (Religion or Belief) Regulations 2003.

The project will initially be for one year, with the post being filled on a self-employed basis.  The successful candidate will take responsibility for their National Insurance and tax, and provide their own office equipment.  Weekly hours will be flexible, in the region of 10 to 15, with payment of between £15 and £20 an hour and expenses being met.

A full job description and person specification may be obtained from Revd Bill Mash, Team Leader of the Black Country Urban Industrial Mission, to whom the post-holder will be responsible.  Applications, with a CV and covering letter, should be submitted by Friday 27 January.
