How we can help

When explaining the role of workplace chaplains, it is helpful to begin with the experiences which people may have of chaplains in hospitals, universities or the armed forces. These are long established roles, with chaplains forming part of the organisational structure. They offer reassurance and support, especially when people are facing uncertainty, stress or danger.

BCUIM offers Christian chaplaincy in a highly diverse society, where workplaces include people of different ethnicities and faith backgrounds, as well as many who have no religious commitment. Experience, most recently with our bus chaplaincy, has shown that our chaplains are acceptable to people of all faiths and none. Chaplains often report that committed members of the various faith communities are pleased to meet them, recognising people of faith even if it is not their own. This diversity often gives rise to interesting conversations
